Techpol and Environmental Sustainability

Techpol’s environmental strategy is founded on an ISO 14001:2015 certified management system and the achievement of the PRS Green Label, which recognizes its contribution to the sustainable reuse and recycling of plastic packaging. The company pursues an ambitious environmental policy focused on continuous improvement, with specific and measurable objectives.

The results achieved in reducing environmental impact are remarkable. Techpol’s corporate Carbon Footprint has decreased from 1,883.73 tons of CO₂ equivalent in 2018 to 530.4 tons in 2024 — a 72% reduction. This exceptional result has been made possible through an integrated energy strategy that includes the use of carbon-compensated natural gas since 2023 and the installation of an 85 kW photovoltaic system, providing 100% renewable electricity since 2024.

Modernizing the machinery fleet is a cornerstone of Techpol’s sustainability strategy. The company operates 51 presses with an average age of just five years, the result of constant renewal aimed at increasingly efficient technologies. Of these, 15 are electric rather than hydraulic, offering significantly lower energy consumption and greater operational precision. In 2025, the replacement of a historic 280-ton hydraulic press with a new 300-ton electric press demonstrated the tangible benefits of this technological transition — achieving superior performance with reduced energy consumption.

Between 2023 and 2024, Techpol installed 12 evaporative coolers, adopting a more ecological approach to climate control. This solution has lowered energy use compared to traditional systems while simultaneously improving indoor air quality. Overall operational results include a 50% reduction in press oil consumption, a 40% decrease in compressor electricity usage, and a 95% reduction in water consumption for cooling systems.

Techpol’s “Metal Replacement Technology” philosophy generates significant environmental benefits by producing lighter components that reduce emissions in transportation, while maintaining metal-like strength for longer product life cycles and reduced waste generation. The implementation of a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) system enables Techpol to analyze the environmental impact of its products at every stage, paving the way for the future adoption of Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) to guarantee certified environmental transparency.

Techpol’s commitment also extends to the local territory, with initiatives such as sponsoring the GreenLoop Festival in 2023 to raise awareness on circular economy practices, and local reforestation projects — including the planting of 200 olive trees on the hills surrounding the facility — demonstrating a deep connection with the environment and the local community.
